Giving Thanks – week 2

Posted on: November 8, 2012

Day 8:

I am thankful that in less than one month my girl J will be here in Texas.  I will finally get to meet her youngest daughter, and J will get to meet LMT.  We haven’t seen each other since 2008 and I am beyond excited to see her again.

Day 9:

I am thankful for the roof over my head.  For many years the Hubbster and I lived in apartments, and after careful saving were finally able to buy a home of our own.  We have plenty of space and a yard for LMT.  I couldn’t possibly ask for more.

Day 10:

I am thankful for reliable transportation.  We haven’t always been so lucky in this department.  For a good chunk of my time in college we were plagued with unreliable vehicles and repair bills.  It feels so damn good to not have that hanging over our heads.  (Dear Powers-That-Be, please don’t jinx us.  Really.  I’m not trying to be cocky or tempt fate.  I’m just trying to be thankful.)

Day 11:

I am thankful for LMT’s teachers at school.  Both of them are wonderful with her and she adores them.  Sometimes it’s really hard being a working mom and I’m so thankful to know that LMT’s teachers are so hard-working and dedicated to their kids.  I’m going to be very sad when LMT moves into the next classroom because these two teachers have been exemplary.

Day 12:

I am thankful to have lived in Norway.  I experienced so many things over there that I wouldn’t have otherwise: epic snow, the Northern Lights, different cultures, attending an international school, traveling abroad.  I hope to one day take the Hubbster and LMT over there so that they can see some of the places I’ve been.

Day 13:

I am thankful that my family is healthy.

Day 14:

I am thankful that we were able to see the Hubbster’s cousin & family under good circumstances this year.  For the past several years we have only seen them at funerals, so it was really great to see them in a fun setting.

HA! That photo still cracks me the hell up. 😀

I fail miserably about keeping up with blog reads the past couple of years, but I caught up with yours today and your “Giving Thanks” entries have made me giggle and cry — both things were sorely needed. The good and bad, happy and sad, seem to balance out over time. I hope 2013 is a wonderful year for your whole family!
