It’s Crazy Aunt Purl, y’all!

My husband redeemed himself (slightly) over the weekend.  He felt so bad for making me cancel the Saturday CAP book signing at Yarntopia, that he took me to the FRIDAY signing at the Barnes and Noble in Houston.  WOOT!

What can I say about Crazy Aunt Purl?  Well, she’s just as funny in person as she is on her blog.  And the Southern accent she complains about so much?  Let’s just say she fit right in with all the Houstonians in the crowd.  🙂  Although, I wondered if her accent became enhanced BECAUSE she was back in Texas??  Members of her family were in attendance (Her mom wore her “book shirt”  LOL.), as well as The Crochet Dude

First, she read us a chapter from the book – with extra tidbits thrown in here and there – followed by a Q&A session afterwards.  That was probably the best part of the entire evening.  Well… aside from actually getting to meet with her face-to-face.

  • CAP fun fact #1:  If you type in “fried okra” in your google search bar, Laurie’s recipe is the first one on the list.  Go ahead!  Try it!
  • CAP fun fact #2:  Her manuscript was originally 500+ pages.  Oh, and Microsoft Word scares her – too much red and green on the page.
  • CAP fun fact #3:  The mutant zucchini?  Cannot be killed.   No matter how hard she tries.

The last portion of the evening was reserved for the book signing.  And y’all, I cannot stress this enough, Laurie is super nice!  She took a couple of minutes to chat with each and every person in the line, and was more than happy to take pictures with those who asked.

And btw, J, Crazy Aunt Purl says “G’day” to you!!  🙂  Your copy of your book will be in your Christmas package.  Woo hoo!
