Has It Really Been 10 Years Already?

Posted on: August 14, 2012

This past weekend the Hubbster and I celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary with a quick trip to the San Antonio Riverwalk.  We woke up very early (read: before dawn) Friday morning, drove to the outskirts of Austin and left LMT with her Godparents for her first overnight stay.  LMT did really well…mommy didn’t even make it down the driveway without shedding a few (ok, more than a few) tears.  After regaining my composure, we proceeded to make our way to San Antonio.  I had made an anniversary playlist on the iPod which we listened to on the way.

Remember back in the day when we used to make mix tapes?  Or am I just dating myself?

We arrived at the historic La Mancion del Rio hotel, which was originally established as Old St. Mary’s College in the 1850’s.  Check out the view we had from our balcony.  Not too shabby!

After we got settled in our room, we ventured out to explore the Riverwalk.  The temps in San Antonio were above the century mark, so we quickly decided we needed to find some a/c.  Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not fit the bill.

Bring on the photo montage!

Edward vs. Jacob. How will I ever choose? HORK!

Look, y’all! I got my Hogwarts acceptance letter! Yes, for the record, I went all “fangirl” with the Harry Potter figures. You can put away your Judge-y-Pants now.

The Hubbster got to sit in the “world’s largest tire”.

We both stood next to “The Tallest Man In The World”.

And I found Hubby #3. Bonus points for those who know who Hubby #2 is.

Disgusting clock made out of chicken heads.

An Eiffel Tower replica made entirely out of matchsticks. The whole thing weighs less than 5 pounds!

After the wax museum and Ripley’s, we ventured back into the heat and went to the Alamo. Neither of us had been there since we were kids.

Disclaimer: I’m almost certain I went there with my girl J and her hubby when we were in our 20’s. Can you back me up here, J?

I’m giggling because just seconds before that we realized that the iphone was still on video mode.

Look…it’s the Alamo.

Yep, it’s the Alamo. And it’s a bazillion degrees out here. Can we go back to the hotel now?

We also had our fair share of delicious goodies on our trip.

I had a margarita

Champagne and dessert in the hotel room.

A romantic in-room breakfast overlooking the Riverwalk.

The Hubbster is ready to dig in!

A quiet breakfast with the Hubbster.

Long (picture heavy) story short, we had a fantastic trip. It was the first time we’ve gone out of town without LMT and it was so nice to spend time together, just the two of us. Don’t get me wrong, we both missed our little girl terribly and joked how we didn’t quite know what to do without her.

And not to be left out of all the photo fun, it appears LMT had a blast this weekend as well:

Late night chocolate ice cream.

Fun in the pool with the kids

Now it’s back to reality. I’m already missing our little mini vacation and I’m hoping that we’ll get to do something like that a little more often. Preferably before our 20-year wedding anniversary. 😉

One final photo.  Quite possibly my favorite of the whole trip.  The Hubbster managed to sneak a picture of me in the early morning quiet.  I was enjoying a cup of coffee, the beautiful view, and reading my Nook.
